Day 1: Miami

We left Phoenix early Saturday morning and took two flights to Florida because we had miles on different airlines. Tyler arrived in Ft. Lauderdale about 45 mins before I landed in Miami. He got a rental car and headed down to pick me up. When he got there we were stoked - our vacation had begun!

It turned out our hotel was in a great spot on the pier. We were able to walk across the street to a little ourdoor mall for dinner and ice-cream - and some cool tourist sitings. Ate at Bubba-Gump's. Held a boa-constrictor.

The next morning we slept til 10am when my mom called wondering why our security system was beeping back at home. She apologized for waking us up, but said she didn't really feel that bad because we had the rest of the week to sleep in... She and Nana were so nice to come hold down the fort! Tyler got into the shower and I opened up the drapes to this beauitful and exciting sight! The ships were right there waiting for us!
We still had some time before we needed to board so we went to South Beach to get some lunch at a place Tyler's boss had recommended. Parking was nuts; food was decent; seagulls were crazy brave (took food out of people's hands while they were eating!; beach volleyball players were entertaining; life on South Beach seemed pretty happening.

Pushing time limits as usual, we rushed over to Hertz, returned our car and got shuttled to the pier. With the flash of a passport and a few other declarations, we were on - and having the first of many cruiseline photos taken by the enthusiastic employees - "lookey, lookey!"
