hiking and biking

This weekend we've gotten outside to do a lot more than we have the past 6 months. Fall is in the air, despite it being 90 degrees - and it feels good! Yesterday we packed a breakfast picnic and went to a trail near our neighborhood for a kick-off the winter family bike-ride. Everyone is outfitted with new birthday bikes so our pace was much faster than last year and we had a great time. This morning, the family members came down to go on a hike/desert walk with us. Luke and Tyler had worked on an eagle scout project with a boy in our ward a few weeks ago and cleared a new trail so Luke was excited to take us back. A good experience just being outside and seeing new sites.

We are happy we made it through another hot summer and excited about the payoff months that lie ahead. Everyone in the neighborhood who has been hiding in their homes since June can begin coming outside so we hang out together again. Its a funny culture here in this state.

Okay a few things - I cannot believe cool weather is 90 to you! Ha! Also, who is that man with Shelly!? And finally, WHY aren't your kids wearing HELMETS!?

You guys really are a biking family -- the whole crew. It's pretty amazing and so darling that you are all doing this together. You have arrived! Beautiful family. Jake, I'm glad your tooth (that was hanging) finally fell out (or was pulled out). Hope the tooth fairy is nice to him!!
